Tours and activities in Herceg Novi
Herceg Novi is the entrance to the Bay of Kotor and one of the sunniest towns on the Adriatic. Boat tours leave Herceg Novi for the historic island of Mamula, the Blue Cave, the Luštica beaches (Trsteno, Žanjic, Mirište) and toward Igalo and Tivat.
The activity season is April–October. The Old Town, with its stairways and fortresses (Forte Mare, Kanli Kula), has walking tours year-round. Herceg Novi makes a good base for those who want a quieter coast with easy access to everything in the bay.

Frequently asked questions
Can I visit Mamula?
Yes. Mamula is now a luxury hotel, but the public can reach the beach and tour the outer parts of the island on a boat tour. You can't go inside unless you're a hotel guest.
How long does a boat tour from Herceg Novi take?
Half a day (3–4h, Blue Cave + 1 beach) or a full day (6–8h, Mamula, several Luštica beaches, snorkeling, lunch on board).
Can I reach the Luštica beaches on my own?
Yes, 30–40 min by car from Herceg Novi to most beaches. Trsteno and Žanjic have parking and are accessible; others require walking or a boat.
Are there combined Herceg Novi + Kotor + Perast tours?
Yes, there are full-day programs covering all three locations with transfer and a guide.
Is Herceg Novi suitable for families?
Yes. Fewer crowds than Budva, plenty of beaches and a slower pace. The Old Town's steps can be challenging for older visitors or strollers.
