Tours and activities in the Tara Canyon
The Tara River canyon is the deepest in Europe (1,300 m) and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its best-known program is rafting (the classic 18 km from Splavište to Šćepan Polje, or multi-day expeditions). Above the Đurđevića Tara bridge runs one of Europe's longest zip-lines (1,050 m).
The rafting season runs from late April to mid-October, with the strongest water levels in May–June. Most rafting operators arrange pickup from Žabljak, Pljevlja, Mojkovac and Kolašin. Full-day programs include lunch and transfer in the price.

Frequently asked questions
How long does classic Tara rafting take?
Half a day (3–4h on the water) for the standard Splavište–Šćepan Polje route, 18 km. The full program with transfer, equipment and lunch lasts 7–9 hours. Suitable for ages 10+.
Is rafting safe for beginners?
Yes, the classic program (class II–III) is suitable for everyone over 10 and requires no prior experience. Guides are licensed; the gear (raft, helmet, life vest, wetsuit) is standard.
Can I combine rafting and a Durmitor tour in the same day?
It's hard in one day — rafting alone takes 7–9h. The classic combination is a two-day program: day 1 Tara rafting, day 2 Black Lake or a jeep tour across Durmitor, with an overnight stay in Žabljak.
