Tours and activities from Podgorica

Podgorica is the capital and administrative center. It isn't a traditional tourist destination itself, but it's an ideal starting point for day tours in every direction — Ostrog (40 min northwest), Skadar Lake (15 min southeast), Cetinje (35 min west) and Žabljak/Durmitor (2h north).

Podgorica also has an international airport — many agencies offer pickup straight from the terminal and a same-day program. The season for most programs is May–October; monasteries and cultural tours run year-round.

Peak season: 1–2 weeks ahead. Off-season: 2–3 days is enough. Private and custom tours: as early as possible.

Can I do a day trip north (Žabljak) from Podgorica?

Yes. A standard day program: 7am departure, 2h drive, 6h in Žabljak (Black Lake, jeep tour or rafting), back by 8pm.

How do I get from the airport to the center?

Podgorica airport is 11 km from the center. Taxi €10–15, an organized agency transfer €15–25, bus available but not recommended if you have luggage.

Are trips from Podgorica more expensive than from the coast?

Similar. The difference is that from Podgorica you have shorter drives to inland attractions (Ostrog, Skadar) but longer ones to the coast (Kotor 1.5h). Choose your base by what you want to see.
