Grahovo Arboretum
Grahovo, Nikšić municipality
A park-garden with around 127 plant species over roughly 1 hectare — the first protected natural site in the Nikšić municipality (since 2000).

About the site
The Grahovo Arboretum is a park-garden with a collection of about 127 plant species (33 native and 94 introduced) over roughly 1 hectare, set in the natural surroundings of the Grahovo region. It was founded by General Vojo Kovačević and has been a protected natural site since 2000 — the first of its kind in the Nikšić municipality.
This is not a mass tourist destination — it is rather a quiet, educational place that shows how the plant life of this part of Montenegro develops in contact with rocky terrain and a specific climate. The park is organized so that visitors can recognize both groups of native species and introduced exotics, which makes it interesting for laypeople as well as those professionally involved in botany or landscape architecture.
The best times to visit are spring and early summer, when the vegetation is in full growth, as well as autumn — for the changing colors of the leaves.
