Sava Kovačević Monument
Grahovo, Nikšić municipality
A 7-meter bronze figural composition dedicated to the People's Hero of Yugoslavia Sava Kovačević (1905–1943) — the central element of the memorial park on Umac hill in Grahovo.

About the site
The Sava Kovačević Monument sits on Umac hill above Grahovo and is one of the most significant memorials dedicated to the People's Liberation War in Montenegro. Sava Kovačević (1905–1943), born in the nearby village of Nudo, was one of the best-known commanders of the partisan movement and among the first proclaimed People's Heroes of Yugoslavia.
The monument was unveiled on 13 July 1978, marking the anniversary of the 1941 uprising. The figural composition is the work of the sculptor Miodrag Živković, while the urban context was designed by the architect Ivan Vuščić. The 7-meter bronze sculpture stands on a stone pedestal and depicts Sava in motion — a hybrid composition that develops from an abstract form into a recognizable figure with a partisan cap.
The monument is the central element of a wider memorial park of around 7,500 m², which includes a series of concrete blocks bearing the names of fallen fighters and civilian victims, stone terraces and access steps. The park was renovated in 2020 and is now freely accessible year-round.
